As a creative studio manager, Jan manages creative development and design while working with art directors, writers, strategists and entrepreneurs. She develops new ideas while keeping to existing brand standards (Visual Identity Systems) to develop brand standards and implement them. As a problem solver, Jan earned a reputation as the one to call to get something done. She has been successful in developing lasting relationships with employers, clients, vendors and between departments. Jan is a tactical thinker who manages teams and solves problems in an efficient manner through observation and implementation of procedures, saving time and money. The end result is better production and relationships.

Please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My experience has included managing design studios in ad agencies, designing for corporate in-house marketing departments and directing work as a freelancer. I have been lucky to play a supporting role to some of the most talented creatives in the industry.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think one of the struggles I’ve experienced in the agency and freelance world is the flow of work being inconsistent. I think there are ways for all involved to plan and even out the workload when possible. However, this is the nature of the business.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Being able to make a positive impact on the world.
