Q: Please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
A: After returning to college to get both my bachelor’s degree and my MBA, I worked for a public relations agency. After three years, I was recruited to the marketing department of a corporate technology department. I was there for over eight years running social media, SEO, public relations, QA, and content marketing. I won numerous internal and external awards including PRSA’s “Phoenix Award.” My corporate feeds were highlighted by I grew the feeds through organic engagement, including one feed to over 50,000 followers.

Q: Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A: We were sold in 2016. I survived numerous rounds of layoffs. Many of my friends were let go. Social media and digital marketing is always changing. The hardest part with the new leadership was getting the funding to stay current in social media and marketing practices.

Q: What is “success” or “successful” for you?
A: In social media, my proudest moment was creating a community of influencers. When we launched a new project lead application, I asked my influencers to help me promote it (paid and organic). The results were dramatic. Social media had quadrupled the results of email, ppc, and content marketing. As a consultant, I also consider having my clients follow my guidance a success. Within 6 months, one of my clients showed a 50% increase (across the board) for unique visitors from social media.
