Do I have to pay a fee to be placed by Hire Profile?

No, talent placed by Hire Profile do not pay a fee for our services. The clients who use Hire Profile to find Atlanta’s best creative talent pay us for the expertise and service we provide to them. Therefore our charge is to identify the right candidate for our clients’ assignments.

How long will it take to hear from Hire Profile?

If you are a fit for any of our current openings, Hire Profile will contact you immediately. Our recruiters are focused on sourcing for and matching the profiles they have engaged us to fill.

When will I have a personal interview with a Hire Profile recruiter?

We would love to interview everyone personally. However, realistically we will only be able to interview people as they become a candidate for an upcoming opportunity.

Why is a recruiter calling me to change my resume?

We see a lot of resumes. Often we have helpful advice to make your experience show in the best light possible. We never ask you to lie or fabricate anything. Resumes that have format errors, typos, omit dates of employment, are verbose or try too hard to be cute will often be sent back for reworking by our recruiters. Oh, and it’s “QuarkXPress” in case you want to check for this now…

I am having trouble assessing my skill level on software. How do you classify beginner/intermediate/expert?

If you are beginner in a software it is one you have only dabbled in. We would not place you on any jobs requiring this skill. Intermediate is a good solid user but maybe you don’t work in it as often as others or haven’t used it as extensively as an expert. Or perhaps you use an older version. We would place you using this skill level if it was one among other things you were hired to do and the work was not as complex. An expert is someone who can do just about anything asked of them in the program. They use the current version to the fullest of its capabilities. They could teach someone else how to use it. We would place you again and again in this software.

Why do I have to send samples? I have my own website.

You need to send separate samples because we are not always able to send your personal URL to our clients. Also we like to tailor our presentations to highlight only those samples that pertain to the work at hand.

Should I tell Hire Profile if I am working with other recruiters?

Yes. This does not hurt your chances of being placed by Hire Profile. We need to know if another recruiter is submitting you to a position that we are working on as well.

Do I need to tell Hire Profile about other opportunities I have submitted myself to?

It is very helpful to us to know where you are already freelancing or interviewing so we do not send you there by accident.

How should I let Hire Profile know when my schedule changes, I have taken a full time job or have moved?

Please let us know of any changes in your schedule or availability status by sending an email to talent@hire-profile.com.

How am I paid?

Hire Profile pays freelancers the agreed upon hourly rate multiplied by the hours submitted on your timesheet. Hire Profile in Nov. 2008 is now using BigTime an online time tracking software. You will be given a log in upon being placed on your first assignment with us. You will use this same login for each assignment you have.

When we receive your time on Monday by noon, we create a client invoice and a talent bill which is used to pay you. Tuesday is our billing day, and that’s when checks are cut and mailed. On billing day, we process your talent bills from 2 weeks prior, and cut checks accordingly.

Does Hire Profile take out taxes from my paycheck?

NEW updated 9/18/08: It depends. Most freelance talent placed by Hire Profile are considered 1099 independent contractors so Hire Profile pays you for the hours worked and we do not take out any federal, state or local taxes. You will receive a 1099 at the end of year are responsible for paying your own state and local taxes.

However, due to recent changes in the labor laws, some freelancers will not qualify as an independent contractor. These individuals usually are those working on-site, full-time for one of our clients. These people will be moved from 1099 to W-2 Employee status 1/1/09. They will receive a W-2 at the end of the year.

There is also a third category of worker. Those individuals who are incorporated (or LLC) and work under a FEIN.

All forms of workers must be covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance. If you do not have a policy of your own we will deduct the premium from your paycheck so that you are covered under Hire Profile's poicy in the event that you are injured on the job. This goes for sole proprieters, 1099's, FEIN's and W2s.

What if the client disputes my hours?

Occasionally, the internal timekeeping system you may use at some clients may not match up with the Hire Profile timesheet you submit. If a client receives our invoice and disputes your hours with us, we will first check the client’s internal documentation or timekeeping system and then ask you to check or clarify your own records. In the event there is not a record of actual time kept or there is continued dispute, Hire Profile will work with both the client and talent to reach a mutually agreeable compromise.

What If I miss the timesheet deadline?

Your timesheet for the prior week is due by Monday at noon. If you know that you will miss the timesheet deadline, please call us or send an email to billing@hire-profile.com and let us know when we can expect to receive it. Billing is done every Tuesday, so if we do not receive your timesheet by the deadline, it will be another week before we can invoice the client for the work you did, and that ultimately means it will take longer for you to get paid. It’s in your best (financial) interest to get your timesheet to us on time.

What if I show up to an assignment and they can’t use me after all?

All of our clients have a 4-hour minimum billing requirement for freelance engagements. You will be paid for 4 hours in the event of an unexpected cancellation. This does not apply if you are let go from the client due to performance issues or agree to work less than 4 hours at the initiation of the assignment.
